Ute Bachinski lives and works in Creston, British Columbia. She works primarily in watercolours and with fabric. Born in Germany, she arrived in Canada in 1954. Ute studied at the Ontario College of Art and at the University of British Columbia.

Her work is in private collections all over the world including Canada, the United States, England, and Switzerland.

The paintings and quilted wall hangings are inspired by her garden, the mountains, fields, and people around her. She has a keen eye for detail, yet creates bold and vigorous compositions. Watercolour has been her primary meduim for some time, but she continues to work in oil and pastel as well. Ute's paintings are rich in saturated colour with a strong sense of form and a high degree of realism.

The watercolours are painted on 300lb or 140lb acid free paper and matted with acid free board.

These quilted wall hangings are original, one of a kind pieces. They are hand made on an antique Singer treadle sewing machine.

The materials used are antique, old, recycled silks, cottons and other natural fabrics. They have a lovely feel to them and please the eye with their soft patina. Some new fabrics are used when the design demands it.
